IP-2 Market Program
The goal of this three-phase virtual program is to help UA inventors understand Intellectual property (IP) commercialization and enable them to identify the feasible applications of the IPs and initiate external contact with industry. The overall mission is to increase the quality, patentability, and commercial potential of UA inventions.
Participants
- UA researchers who have submitted invention disclosures to OIC
- UA inventors who have had patents issued through OIC
- UA researchers who will submit invention disclosure to OIC before this program starts
Timeline
The program involves three phases, completed over seven months. Each participant will receive $4,000 after completing each phase.
- Phase I: IP Commercialization Training
- Five sessions over five weeks, March 31–April 28, 2023 (Fridays, 2:00–3:30 p.m.)
- Virtual training modules:
- Session 1 (March 31): IP Basics
- Session 2 (April 7): IP Commercialization
- Session 3 (April 14): Evaluating IP Commercialization Potential
- Session 4 (April 21): Resources & Tools
- Session 5 (April 28): Case Study / Examples / Final Presentations
- Phase II: Develop Industrial Contacts
- Six months, flexible, independent work based on own schedule, May–October 2023
- Phase III: Develop an IP Commercialization Roadmap
- Three months, flexible, independent work based on own schedule, September–November 2023
