Internal Funding & Awards

Faculty External Honors

The University of Alabama is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service. We recognize the importance of national and international faculty awards. The Office for Research & Economic Development has created a list of all faculty awards considered “highly prestigious” and “prestigious” by the National Research Council (NRC). Individual faculty, departments, and colleges are encouraged to actively nominate members for appropriate awards.

Faculty Research Day

The purpose of Faculty Research Day is to showcase and celebrate excellence in research, creativity, and scholarship by bringing together faculty from across our campus. The event is also intended to increase awareness and generate enthusiasm for scholarship among faculty as the University advances its research enterprise and its impact.

Additionally, during the event, the President’s Faculty Research Award, sponsored by our President and the Vice President for Research & Economic Development, is awarded to outstanding faculty researchers from across UA Colleges and Schools.

SEC Faculty Program

The SEC Faculty Travel Program is intended to enhance faculty collaboration that stimulates scholarly initiatives between SEC universities. It gives full-time faculty members from one SEC university the opportunity to travel to another SEC campus to exchange ideas, develop grant proposals, present lectures, conduct research, and deliver performances.
