Economic & Business Engagement

Mobile Office

The Office for Economic & Business Engagement (OEBE) satellite office on the Gulf Coast provides the Mobile and South Alabama community direct access to The University of Alabama’s vast resources.

The mission is to develop relationships with external stakeholders to increase the number of partnerships and sponsored projects with the University while creating career opportunities for UA students and alumni in the South Alabama region.

Our team on the Gulf Coast is eager to connect talented faculty, staff, and students across all disciplines in each college, research institute, or center with industry and community leaders in support of their strategic priorities. OEBE personnel on the Gulf Coast serve as the local connection for external partners to access the vast resources available at The University of Alabama including R&D faculty, analytical support, economic development assets, career services, and much more.

Contact Dana George at (205) 615-9123 or ddgeorge@ua.edu to learn more about partnering with UA.

Steps to Industry Engagement

  1. Project Identification: OEBE and industry executives match company needs with research expertise.
  2. Internal Collaboration: OEBE meets with UA College/Institute/Center leadership to discuss the identified opportunity and set follow-up meeting with the company’s technical experts.
  3. Project Planning: OEBE coordinates NDA process with Office for Research & Technology Agreements. Faculty are identified to lead detailed confidential project discussions with company representatives.
  4. Finalize and Execute: Faculty lead prepares project scope of work, budget, and timeline. UA and the company enter into a formal contract and work is initiated. OEBE available for support throughout.
