The Office for Sponsored Programs oversees the administration of externally sponsored grants and contracts at The University of Alabama, including sponsored research, instruction, and other sponsored activities.
OSP Grants & Contracts Specialists provide services that are designed to support faculty and other employees with proposal development, review and submission, award negotiation and acceptance, post-award changes such as re-budgeting, non-financial award close-out, and to facilitate the overall grant and contract process while balancing the need for institutional and regulatory compliance.
OSP supports the research community by establishing policies and procedures, providing guidance and consultation, and serving as the liaison with external sponsors on administrative changes throughout the life of an award. OSP is available to provide education, outreach, and training related to research administration to enhance UA’s ability to obtain and manage externally sponsored projects.
The University of Alabama is a member of the Federal Demonstration Partnership, which is a cooperative initiative among federal agencies and institutional recipients of federal funds. The purpose of FDP is to reduce the administrative burdens associated with research grants and contracts through participation in annual meetings, collaborative working groups, and task forces.
