The Office for Research & Economic Development has appointed a new associate director of the Office for Sponsored Programs to lead the day-to-day operations for sponsored programs while providing faculty and key stakeholders with exemplary customer service.
Nichole Cavin, most recently a senior grants and contracts specialist, has been named associate director of OSP and will serve as the primary representative in support of grant and contract applications and all reporting and documents connected with proposal submissions. Her appointment began Mar. 7.
As associate director of OSP, Cavin oversees the team responsible for proposal review and submission, award setup, and non-financial post-award administration to ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations, laws, policies, and sponsor requirements. In addition, the associate director facilitates the continued training and mentorship of OSP personnel, provides expertise on complex research administration matters, and collaborates with the UA community to support the growth of research. This position reports directly to Jennifer Camp, associate vice president for research administration.
“Nichole has been an integral member of the OSP team since she joined UA,” said Camp. “She has developed strong partnerships with administrators and faculty; her leadership in this position will play an important role in the continued growth of UA research.”
Cavin has previous OSP experience at a research-intensive university, holds national certification as a Certified Research Administrator (CRA), and recently presented on behalf of UA at the National Council for University Research Administrators (NCURA) 2023 regional meeting.
