Division for Research

Internal Advisory Board

Each member of the Division for Research’s Internal Advisory Board is charged with communicating with their research community — broadly envisioned and including departmental colleagues, college research active faculty and staff and their own disciplinary and interdisciplinary networks. Members communicate both news and information from the Division for Research to their community and gather concerns and compliments from the community to present to the Division. Members identify opportunities and barriers affecting research growth across diverse disciplinary research models, including differences in external funding ecosystems, research infrastructure needs and pathways to scholarship dissemination, to help inform institutional strategies that support a broad range of research activity and that ensure equitable opportunity for research advancement.

The advice from IAB members is generally strategic in nature; operational issues regarding research practice are fundamentally the purview of the Vice President for Research and the Associate Deans for Research. The Board maintains a list of priority issues and periodically presents their consensus views on those issues to the VPR. 

Board members foster open communication with all members of the UA research enterprise, including faculty and the faculty senate, staff, ADRs and other administrators, and the Division for Research.  The ultimate goal of the IAB is to enhance and improve the culture of research at UA and position the research enterprise for continued success.
