David Hardy

Dr. David E. Hardy is associate dean for research and service and associate professor of higher education in the College of Education at The University of Alabama (Associate Dean since 2010). He holds a BFA in theatre (Southern Methodist University, 1982), MS in human relations and business (Amberton University, 2000), and PhD in higher education (University of North Texas, 2005). His career includes Texas community college leadership roles before joining UA. Scholarship focuses on community colleges, rural-serving institutions, STEM pathways, transfer advising, and higher education policy, with publications in journals like Journal of Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering. Activities include course redesigns using significant learning theories, directing the Alabama College Transfer Advising Corps for underserved students in STEM/arts, and developing integrated arts-science K-12 curricula. His work promotes equity, access, and innovation in postsecondary education for rural/minority populations.
