The University of Alabama Office for Research and Economic Development (ORED) has launched a new and improved office to assist faculty involved in research and proposal development.
The Office for Advancing Scholarly and Scientific Initiatives through Services and Training (Research ASSIST Office) expands the services and offerings formerly offered through the Office for Research & Proposal Development.
Lisa Joiner, a seasoned veteran of ORED, has been tapped to lead the Research ASSIST Office. She will report directly to Jennifer Camp, assistant vice president of research administration.
“Lisa brings considerable experience and knowledge that will enhance the UA research environment,” said Jennifer Camp, assistant vice president of research administration. “I am excited that she will be leading the Research ASSIST Office to help move UA’s research mission forward.”
New and expanded Research ASSIST Office services include, but are not limited to, project management to support large, complex translational proposals of strategic importance; the development and maintenance of University-wide resources related to proposal preparation; and guidance to UA faculty that are new to research. The office will continue to manage limited submissions, administer the ORED small grants program, and serve as liaison to The Implementation Group (TIG).
“I look forward to assuming my role within the Research ASSIST Office and build upon the services that have been provided in the past,” said Joiner. “As UA research continues to grow, I am excited to embark on this new role in supporting our faculty and staff.”
Joiner most recently served as manager of the Office for Sponsored Programs and has more than 25 years of experience in research administration. A brief video about the new Research ASSIST Office is available online.
