As we navigate a rapidly changing environment, we all share the same goal of supporting the valuable research and scholarship happening across our campus. The research being conducted here has real world implications for our state and our nation, and it elevates the learning experience of our students.
We are closely monitoring possible changes being announced affecting federal agencies’ research policies and funding. We continue to coordinate with leadership at our sister institutions and The University of Alabama System officials, including government relations. The Office of Research and Economic Development has been in communication with leaders of our research institutes and dean’s offices.
We are a student-centered research university, providing opportunities to participate in discovery and innovation while improving our quality of life. The important work that happens here impacts our communities, our state, and the entire nation through transformative research, meaningful service, beneficial industry partnerships, and skilled graduates who leave a mark in their local communities.
We are proud of the important work of our research community and appreciate your patience as we await more definitive guidance.
Sincerely,
Bryan Boudouris
Vice President for Research & Economic Development
Professor of Chemical & Biological Engineering
